Dental implants offer patients the ability to restore more than just the natural aesthetics of their smile. This restorative dental solution benefits long-term oral health and wellness while replacing missing teeth. At Morristown Cosmetic Dentistry, we provide implant dentistry to patients with one or more lost teeth.
Morristown, NJ, dentist Dr. Victor Gittleman works with patients on an individual basis to meet their restorative needs. His goal is to ensure that his patients benefit from implant dentistry and improve their future dental health and wellness.
The Benefits of Dental Implants
What sets dental implants apart from more traditional methods of replacing teeth is that they replace the missing tooth at the root. Because of this, dental implants can also be used to anchor a custom dental crown, dental bridge, or denture. With dental implants, patients can bite, chew, and speak normally. Replacing missing teeth at the root supports healthy bone tissue and helps patients retain the natural structure of their jaw and bite. Dental implants also provide benefits for our patient’s lifestyles on a daily basis. Dental implants enable patients to eat without dietary restrictions, speak clearly with normal speech patterns, and maintain their restorations as they would with natural teeth. Maintaining the structure of your jaw also reduces bone loss and subsequent sagging of the lower face where teeth are missing.
Dental Implant Treatment
The dental implant procedure is a minor oral surgical procedure that we can complete in-office with comfortable dental sedation. During implantation, we will create an opening in the gum and gently place the implant into healthy bone tissue. After a healing period of 3 to 6 months, during which the post fuses to the bone tissue, we cap off the implant with an abutment and dental crown.
For patients who do not have sufficient bone in their jaw, we offer bone grafting. Bone grafting may occur before or at the same time as the implant surgery and ensures that the implant or implants can be supported in the mouth. Implant treatment also varies when we add a bridge or denture. Implants can be used to secure these restorations for a permanent solution.
